The core of our offer is our Website Visibility service. Most business owners who come to already have a website of their own. Often it is beautifully designed and may have cost a small fortune. However the customers, leads or prospects are not coming in.

What we offer is a detailed look at your website and help and advice on how you can get more of the right people to visit it. Website Visibility is a way of describing the process of Search Engine Management (SEM). And this process involves getting your site to appear on the first page of Google in the “organic” (free) search engine results pages (SERPs) and/or in the (paid) advertising at the top and down the right of the SERPs.

The perennial cry of the business owner is “why don’t enough people visit my website?” The answer to that question is probably Search Engine Optimization, or the lack of it. You can pay to be on the first page but that subject (Pay Per Click or PPC) is covered elsewhere.

How do people find websites? In the same way that you do. Unless your potential customer already knows your business name they will probably type a question into their search engine and rely on the likes of Google, Bing or Yahoo to suggest a list of relevant answers.

Your website has to target these “questions” and provide the answer that your potential customer is looking for. The process of defining what these questions are is called Keyword Research and is the first stage of good Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

The reason we need to research these keywords (or phrases) is that a normal website hasn’t a hope of being able to target more than a few keywords and it is usual to be able to dream up hundreds if not thousands of words and phrases that people might type in when trying to locate our business. From this vast list it is then necessary to pick out the gems.

A gem, in keyword terms, is a short phrase that shows commercial intent, that is regularly searched on and is not heavily optimized for by competitor web sites.

Generally, keyword phrases become more targeted the longer they get. However, the longer the phrase, the less often it gets searched. Here’s an example showing the keyword and the number of UK monthly searches:

  • camera – 3,350,000
  • panasonic camera – 60,500
  • panasonic lumix camera – 22,200
  • panasonic lumix g2 camera – 590

A point to note here is that the longer phrases will be easier to target. There will be many less web pages serving the phrase and the pages found may not be highly optimized for that exact phrase.

So, if you had a camera shop selling 50 models and each model had its own highly targeted page, ranking in Google’s top 10, and the search statistics were similar to the lumix g2 example above, you might expect between 5 and 15 sales per month per model. That is 250 – 750 sales. At only £20 profit per sale that is £5,000 – £15,000 profit per month from the website alone.

So, how much would the SEO cost to achieve this and would it be worth it? That is of course a business decision. But it clearly illustrates that it all comes down to financial planning based on reliable SEO advice, which is where Web Business Hub comes in. The initial analysis is FREE. So get in touch and see if the numbers pan out.
